Coenie de Groot

Osteopath & Neuroplastic Pain Specialist

Coenie de Groot is a UK-based Osteopath and Neuroplastic Pain Specialist with over 25 years of clinical and movement-science experience. Originally from South Africa, he combines a Master’s degree in Osteopathy with an extensive background in sports science, anatomy, personal training, gym management, and Reformer Pilates.

Coenie previously co-owned an Osteopathy and Reformer Pilates studio, where he combined hands-on treatment with long-term movement rehabilitation. This experience strengthened his expertise in biomechanics, posture, alignment and sustainable recovery, ensuring that improvements in pain are supported by lasting improvements in strength, confidence and movement patterns.

With a lifelong involvement in sport, including middle-distance running, triathlon, strength training and Pilates, Coenie brings both clinical expertise and personal experience to understanding pain and performance. His deep anatomical knowledge allows him to accurately assess structural contributors to musculoskeletal symptoms.

As a Neuroplastic Pain Practitioner, Coenie also specialises in treating persistent pain and other neuroplastic symptoms, including back and neck pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, digestive issues, tinnitus, long-COVID and a range of stress-related conditions.

Neuroplasticity is the ability of neural networks in the brain to change through growth and reorganisation. In simple terms we can re-wire the brain so it changes the way it functions. Although the pain we feel is real, the source of that pain is, in 90% of cases, unlikely to be structural. Coenie refers to this treatment as a Mind-Body approach, emphasising how the mind plays a significant role in how the body is feeling.

That is why his Neuroplastic treatment integrates detailed structural and postural assessments with lifestyle habits, such as nutrition, sleep and exercises as well as addressing stress and trauma.
