Summary
Dr Ravindran has over 20 years of experience in acute and chronic pain management. He is the clinical lead for pain medicine at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. He firmly believes that pain conditions should be treated as early as possible, with the appropriate use of multidisciplinary techniques to improve patient quality of life. His clinic offers a comprehensive service, starting with expert diagnosis and followed up by high quality medical treatment that is complemented by good support from specialists in physiotherapy and psychology. He is trauma informed and follows an upstream approach to medicine.

Qualifications:
Dr Ravindran brings a very high level of training and experience to the important task of patient care. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, and a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
He has been one of the main consultants in setting up the award winning NHS community service IPASS in 2015 and also set up the Circle Fibromyalgia Rehabilitation Clinic in 2017.

Prior to taking up his current Consultant’s post, Dr Ravindran studied for his advanced fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and University College London. Before this he trained as a Specialist Registrar in Anaesthesia in the Oxford region.
Dr Ravindran completed his early medical training at one of India’s most prestigious teaching hospitals, the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. He also completed his MD from the same institute in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.
Specialist Interests
Today, his areas of special clinical expertise include treatment of neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and cancer pain.
Along with utilising a full complement of pharmacological treatments for pain, Dr. Ravindran also performs a variety of interventional procedures such as epidural, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency lesioning, and sympathetic and peripheral nerve blocks guided by X-ray and ultrasound. He also is one of the few pain specialists to offer prolotherapy and regenerative therapies such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for the management of painful difficult to treat soft tissue injuries.
Dr Ravindran stays up to date with latest developments in his field, as a Member of the British Pain Society, the World Institute of Pain and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).
Above all, Dr Ravindran is keenly interested in promoting high quality pain education to his patients and other health care professionals. He has presented at various conferences both in the UK and in Europe and has spoken on various pain management topics to Healthcare professionals (GPs, Nurses, medical students, junior doctors).
He lives in Berkshire with his wife and 2 kids and enjoys running and tennis and is a huge movie lover.
